Pre-Premier Competition

Registration for Primary is at 8:00 a.m. Ready to dance for 8:30am with the Fling.

Registration for Beginner & Novice is at 8:30 a.m. Ready to dance for 9:00am with the Flora. Primary awards to follow Flora.

Intermediate & Premier Competition

Afternoon registration will begin at 12:00 p.m. Dancers will not commence prior to 12:30 p.m. and will begin with the Laddie.

Solo Choreography 

Solo Choreography will be done at the completion of the Intermediate & Premier awards.

Limited to first 25 entries; Open to all levels. Dancers must be registered for regular competition. 

• Time limit: 1.5 minutes (from start of music, not start of dance) 
• Music must be a Celtic or Scottish theme; Lyrics are permitted 
• Theme of the dance to be in keeping with the piece of music used. 
• Costume to be in keeping with theme of the dance 
• Groups split by age and also by Pre-Premier/Premier, if entries warrant.
• Music must be emailed to jsdance@bell.net by closing date, Sunday, January 22, 2023. Please include dancer’s name.

All groups will be split by age according to entries received. Age is as of date of competition. Technique and steps will be judged under RSOBHD regulations. The judge’s decision is final. Awards to two places less than number of dancers to a maximum of six places. Dancers will dance in numerical order.

Awards

• Written critique sheets for each performance to be picked up by teachers at end of the event.  For teachers who are not at the event please advise who to give sheets to. 
• Overall and runner up trophies awarded in all groups except Primary. Aggregate trophies will be based on all 4 dances. 
• Cash awards will be awarded to oldest Premier age group. 
• Morning and Afternoon Special awards in memory of Paulina McMaster. 
• In the case of a tie for Dancer of the Day, a 4-step fling dance off will be held. Must be 6 in a group to qualify for Dancer of the Day.
• Competition is open to ALL RSOBHD Dancers!

Entries will close Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 11:59pm.

CURRENT 2024 SCOTDANCE CARD MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE COMPETITION NUMBER 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. Categories are defined by the RSOBHD. Groups will be divided according to entries received. Numbers will be handed out on the day of competition. Any complaint against SDTA (ON) Milton or the adjudication of the event must be in writing, with the complainant’s signature accompanied by a fee of $25.00. Complaints must be lodged with SDTA (ON) Milton within 48 hours of the event for consideration at their next meeting.
